The London Freshwater Group is one of the five specialist groups of the Linnean Society of London.

Formed in 1973, it meets 2-3 times each year for the exchange of ideas and discussion on a range of subjects relating to freshwater science.

**27th Mar – LFG Spring 2026 Meeting**

Our next meeting is scheduled to take place on  Friday 27th March 2026 at the Linnean Society Meeting Room, Burlington House, Piccadilly. Visit Meetings and events for further information.

SAVE BURLINGTON HOUSE:

The London Freshwater Group has been a Specialist Group of the Linnean Society of London (https://www.linnean.org/) since October 1985. Since that time the Linnean Society has supported the Group generously, permitting us the use of their magnificent facilities as a venue for our scientific and annual general meetings. There is no doubt that meetings have been enhanced by their location within the superb Meeting Room, under the portrait gaze of Linnaeus, Wallace and Darwin and that tea (plus the odd Jammy Dodger) has an extra flavour when taken in the glorious Linnean Library.

Now the Linnean Society is facing an existential threat via ill-advised government policy. In recognition of all that the Linnean Society of London has done for the London Freshwater Group, we ask you to visit their website at https://www.linnean.org/the-society/savebh to find out how you can support their case for staying at Burlington House.

The London Freshwater Group Officers: Izzy Bishop (Secretary), Phil Renton (Treasurer), Daniel Mills (Publicity Secretary) and Steve Kett (Linnean Liaison Fellow).
